We will arrive 15 minutes early for each Booking, in order to have time to discuss your requirements and any special instructions. It would be helpful for us to have as much information as possible to help with your children's specific needs.
For example, to explain your child’s bedtime routine –
Evening meal times, and if they are allowed any snacks and beverages later in the evening.
Bath times.
Bedtimes time and the latest they are allowed to stay up. Are they use to a bed time story?
If they are allowed to watch television or to play on iPads and tablets.
Please take the time to show them around - they need to know where you keep bottles, nappies, first aid kit and any other items they may need whilst caring for your child. Bed time routines are a very important part of childcare. They indicate to the child that bed time is approaching and it is a time to relax. So please be specific and clearly detail your child's/ children's routine.
Remember the babysitter doesn't know your children. If your child has a special favourite teddy/ blanket as a comforter, or usually has a bedtime light on, please make your babysitter aware of this. If your child is a baby, it is advisable to leave an item of your clothing, which has your scent on it. This can be used to comfort your baby should the need arise.
For young children, please inform the babysitter if your child uses a night time nappy. Also if they require assistance in cleaning their teeth and using the loo before bed time.
If your child/ children require medication, and you give your Babysitter permission, please clearly explain the correct dosage and times to administer the medication.
Tell the babysitter where you are going. If possible leave a land line contact number as well as your mobile.
Leave a contact number of someone nearby who you trust, perhaps a neighbour or relative, in case the babysitter requires on the spot help urgently.
Always prepare your children during the day that a babysitter is coming. If they don't like being left it is still much better to tell them rather than sneaking off while they are playing or when they are asleep.
Always over estimate rather than under estimate what time you will be home. It is better to return early rather than leave your babysitter wondering where you are. In many cases, a short phone call informing your baby sitter will suffice if you wish to stay out longer.
If you don't want a babysitter to smoke make it clear before you leave. Also, if you are happy for them to help themselves to any refreshments, please make this clear.
Make sure you have contact details for your babysitter in case one of the children is ill or upset after your return and you need to talk to them urgently.
Please check that your baby sitter can get home safely. If they are relying on public transport, ensure the service is still running at the time you return. In most cases, the Babysitter has her own car. Please see Travel & Parking on the Terms and Conditions page.
Myself and anyone else I recommend are experienced in childcare. I know them all personally and they are exceptionally dedicated. Where possible I will give continuity enabling your child/children to gain confidence and trust in them.
It is really important to have a very clear and detailed outline of the responsibilities that are expected by the client and the Babysitter in willing to perform.
